Tuesday's Topic: Is We Together?

Tuesday's topic stems from a conversation that The Premier Joven blog had with a young lady a while back. You see, her man of 6 or so months had "cheated" on her she claimed.  His defense was simply this: "We never said we were boyfriend or girlfriend!"  Genuinely hurt and confused she argued they did all the stuff "couples" do which led us to ask; At what point during the dating process is coupledom negotiated and confirmed. Is it after 4  dinner dates? Perhaps it's when you wake up next to each other, breath funky wearing each other's dirty clothes that you become the 09 Bonnie and Clyde? Or maybe it's when you introduce one another to momma and dem? Could it be a relationship is cemented after the first trip together beyond the nice restaurant on the outskirts of town? Oh love and relationships can be a complicated thing. The days of the letters that had check "yes" or "no" were so much simpler. Please discuss.......

GPS Please!

The Place: Cenci Lounge

Where:  East Village Atlanta, Georgia

Plug this in your GPS: 1259 Glenwood Ave Atlanta, GA 30316

Why?

Cenci Lounge is an hip underground lounge located in Atlanta, Georgia that draws an eclectic mix of people inside it's doors daily. Whether you're looking for a spot to chill, have a drink, vibe to the DJ, or see a live performance Cenci Lounge has you covered. Nestled in the East Village neighborhood of Atlanta, this spot brings b-boys, hip hop heads, and hipsters together for a cool unpretentious  time. And these aren't the arrogant, snotty, bougie hipsters that hang here, it's the confident cool creative ones that bless this spot night in and night out. It wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination that folks like Pharrell, Katy Perry, Andre 3000 and Lenny Kravitz would check this spot out whenever there were in town. And anyplace that 3000 would check out is definitely cool in our book.

Friday Night Lights Renewed!!!

Friday Night Lights is the best show on television. I know what some of you are thinking. You'll probably say "I haven't seen it" or "if it's is so good, why haven't I even heard about it"?  I understand your skepticism at such a bold proclamation but  4 million people weekly seem to agree with the critics ,that Friday Night Lights is television at its finest. Based in a small Texas town of Dillon, the show explores how the game of high school football can weave itself in the everyday fabric of a community. High school football politics aside, Friday Night Lights covers in  honest intimate detail the realities of race, class, disability,  educational policy, teenage angst, and marriage.

If you haven't seen the show (it airs Friday nights at 9pm on NBC) there are several options The Premier Joven blog recommends:

  •  Option 1: Buy, Hulu, or Netflix Seasons 1 or 2 to catch up.

  • Option 2: Watch the last 2 episodes of Season 3 on NBC starting Friday.

  • Option 3(The last option is always the best): Do options 1 and 2 AND......tune in this fall because Friday Night Lights has been renewed for 2 more seasons!

Despite it's poor ratings, the show has a small and devoted following (one reason NBC decided to keep the show is because it rates highly amongst young affluent professionals) NBC and DirecTV finalized a deal this week to bring the show back for at least 26 episodes. Now if Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton can get award recogniton for their remarkable acting abilities then justice for good television will fully and finally be served. "Texas Forever".

Toys-R-Grown Ups: OnLive

Apple and it's mighty iPod and iTunes quickly rendered discman's and cd's obsolete. Netflix, On-Demand,  and Boobie on 125th St and your neighborhood barber shop have Blockbuster on it's last leg. Now can a company providing streaming, uninterrupted gameplay change the game up for Nintendo (Wii), Sony (Playstation 3),  and Microsoft (XBOX 360) forever? The concept is simple, no costly hardware upgrades ( some of us still rock a Playstation one), just turn on the flat screen or computer and play. OnLive could change gaming forever. We'll see how it plays out......

"Let Me Get That On my i-Pod!"

Every once in awhile you find yourself over at a friend's house wasting the day away. As you guys shoot the breeze, watch tv, party, clean or whatever friends do, it's often set to a soundtrack. Depending on the nature of your friendship (some friends are more special than others), oftentimes its  not a Barry White cd playing in the background but a mix of songs shuffling from your homie's iPod. Sometimes the song is so good, you tune out whatever your friend is saying or complaining about, and you demand "Let me get that on my i-Pod"! Premier Joven recommends this week you get these songs on yours:

"Where My Money" ( I Need That) - Rick Ross

"Chasing Pavements" - Adele

"1979"-  The Smashing Pumpkins

"The Payback" - James Brown

"Kingdom Come" - Jay- Z

Old Skool Sho-Nuff Pick of the Day:

"Treat Em' Right"- Chubb Rock

EAT NOW!!

Everybody's gotta eat. It's an essential part of living and those of us fortunate enough to have access to adequate foods owe it to ourselves to indulge. The "EAT NOW" section of our blog would like to highlight foods, restaurants, and recipes that will do your taste buds just right! Thank us later or if you really want to show your gratitude pick up the check next time at Houston's .

The creator of The Premier Joven blog, RKY, is a world-renowned chicken connoisseur and in some circles (New York City, Chicago) he is recognized and respected as a  pizza-ologist.  Learning from esteemed institutions such as Papa John's, Domino's, Little Caesar's, Pizza Hut, Rosa's, Mellow Mushroom, Felini's, Slice, Ray's, and countless others , we say with good faith that Freschetta Pizza (yes the one found in your nearest grocery store) is the real deal. The sauce, the cheese, the crust combine to make an incredible pizza.  If you're hungry and stuck in the Airport in Charlotte, head to gate E and grab a mini one. Freschetta is also the single best reason to go to an Atlanta Hawks game at Phillips Arena! You won't think it's frozen!

A Picture Worth A Milli...

A wise man or woman  once said " A picture is worth a milli, a milli, a milli..."  Well that's not exactly what they said,  but every once in a while you stumble upon a photo that's so good your explanation of it is pointless. You just have to see it and draw your own interpretation. The picture could be one of your first born, a Bossip snap, a high school yearbook photo, a drunken Facebook pic taken by a hater (Shout out to Michael Phelps), or one taken by a world renowned high fashion photographer. The Premier Joven Blog presents its first post er...."Picture Worth a Milli"
